This letter will explain what the real problems

MOST PEOPLE MEAN WELL
Most people I've talked to really would like to do
something
about these problems.
Some are even passionate about it.
So I'm betting you would like to help make
a difference too.
Is that right about you?
If it is, keep reading, because I'm
about to show you
something that can help you do just

BUT...
But you might think, like I often have, that these
problems are
just too big for any one person to do anything
about.
And you'd be right!
And you might think, like I have in the past, that
"I'm just
too busy with my own little day-to-day problems to
worry about
things on that scale."
And maybe that's true too.
Unless you personally are
suffering from one or more of these
crises, the fact that so many other people are
suffering
can seem somewhat far removed from own our
day-to-day experiences and concerns.
However, these problems are so pervasive, that I'm
betting,
if you think about it, that one or more of these

affecting you or those you care about on an

The truth is that most people really
want to feel inspired, to believe in
and to work on something that is truly
important.
But they either don't believe it is really
possible for them, or
they don't know how.

THE REAL PROBLEM
The fact that the problems are big is NOT
the real problem.
The real problem is that people will give up and
do nothing
because they think...
"the problem is
just too big."
And when people give up and do
nothing, nothing happens...
and the problems just keep getting bigger and bigger...
and bigger...
THE
PROBLEMS KEEP GETTING WORSE
People continue getting sicker, no matter
how much more
we spend on medical care.
Did you know?

We are now spending over $2
TRILLION every year on "health care" (which is really the treatment of
sickness) - that's over $6000 per person per year in this
country - and we're still getting sicker.

Two-thirds of our population
are now overweight, even though we are spending $58 billion on "diets" every
year.

Experts predict that children born
today will the first generation in history that will have a shorter life
expectancy than their parents.

People continue to harm
the environment, using products that pollute,
produced by companies that engage in
deforestation, endangering
species and contributing to global warming.

Scientists predict that 50% of all
species currently on planet earth will be extinct by 2050.

Planet Earth currently has a
deficit of about 700 million trees.

Many cleaning products sold today pollute lakes & streams,
killing fish and other wildlife - and the EPA reports that 40 percent of the
nation's waterways too polluted for swimming or fishing.

More people continue to struggle
to pay their bills and manage
increasing debts (from credit cards to
pending foreclosures), all
while global competition and outsourcing threatens
their livelihoods.

In 1984, the national savings rate was 10.8%.

In 2001, it was 1.8%

In 2003, it was 1.4%
-
In 2005, it was MINUS 0.5%
(The savings rate has only been negative for a
full year twice before, in 1932 and 1933, when Americans were struggling with
huge job layoffs during the Great Depression.)

In 2006, it was MINUS 1%
-
Foreclosures and
bankruptcies are soaring again while homeowner equity has decreased
nearly 20% in the last 20 years.

Even the U.S. Government seems to
have given up trying to control its own spending, deficits and debt and
has resorted to printing money to keep the bubble from bursting. (The
dollar is getting weaker and the cost of living, including food & energy prices,
is increasing at upwards of 10% per year.)

And all this stress contributes to the
breakdown of communication
and relationships, both at home and abroad,
and violence breaks out
when
people blame each other for a state of affairs they feel
unable to do anything about.

SUICIDE is the
fastest growing killer of young people in America. Six out of
10 teenagers in high school think about it. One out of 10
tries it.

More than 50% of all
marriages end in divorce.

The number of people
killed in wars in the last 100 years is greater than the number
killed in all the wars of mankind's history prior to that. And
the number of conflicts doesn't seem to be decreasing any.

When people give up, all of these problems continue to
escalate,
more and more people suffer - and our very society as
we know it
is threatened.

KNOW' and 'I DON'T CARE'
There is a story of a man who was
walking down the street
and stopped to ask a passer-by a
question.
He asked "What's the difference
between ignorance and apathy?"
The stranger kept right on walking
and said...
"I don't know and I don't care."
Was the stranger answering the
question? Or did he not want
to be bothered?
Some people don't realize how bad these
problems are
really getting, and because of this they don't
seem to care.
They are simply too busy trying to "get by" to get
involved.
NOW THAT YOU KNOW...
If you didn't realize the extent of the problems,
NOW YOU KNOW.
And
I'm here to challenge the notion that there is nothing that
we can do.
But, we must all get involved.
We must all do our part.
To address these challenges (and they MUST
be addressed),
we must pull together and work on these problems as
a community, DOING WHAT WE CAN, little by little.
Together we can all make a bigger difference than we think.
That’s why I'm on a mission.

That’s right!
I’m on a mission to encourage people to get off their butts,
stop being apathetic (which itself is part of the
problem),
and start getting involved in
being a part of the solution.
WE MUST TAKE ACTION NOW
We can only address these huge
problems by
getting involved ourselves (by setting a good example),
and by helping to get others involved in focusing on
the solutions.
That’s why I’m setting out to help people and the planet by
building a team of inspired leaders (and everyday folks)
who are dedicated to helping people improve their health,
their environment, their finances and their relationships.
Because when we have a team that is working together, we can
all get so much more done than we can working individually.
And we so desperately need to get this done.
The future
of our society and of our very planet depends on it
(not to
mention our own happiness and well-being).
But we can only get it done when EACH of us does our part!
THERE IS HOPE
People need hope & inspiration, and to know that
their problems
are solvable.
WE CAN
MAKE A DIFFERENCE
When you think about the many
dramatic changes that
have happened in our culture in just
the last couple hundred years
or so, all of them are a result of
people taking a stand and
getting other people involved.
Every day people, making a new
choice and standing up
for what they believe in, and
telling others to do the same.

Consider these recent cultural changes...

RELIGIOUS FREEDOM, HUMAN RIGHTS,
SLAVERY... the right
to be free of oppression.
-
EQUALITY FOR MINORITIES (WOMEN,
ETHNIC, GAYS &
LESBIANS...) the right of all people to be recognized as having value, and to
be treated as equals.
-
And in the last 30 years, even
SMOKING has gone from a
cultural norm, to a virtual taboo in many
parts of the country.

All of these movements are simply
the result of individuals standing up
banding together to fight for what
they believe in.
We know many of these individuals
names because they stood up
for what they believed in and therefore have had a
positive
impact on our history. Here are just a few:

And because individuals took a stand, made
different decisions and
influenced others, people became more conscious of
the consequences
of their actions, they encouraged
others to do the same,
and they began to change the
culture.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
That’s why I’m asking you to help – to get involved by taking
a very small step and helping me leverage that small effort
into making a very BIG difference.
The very small step that I’m asking you for is to help me
let people know about

what we are doing to make a difference, and
how they
can participate, and
-
what kind of a
personal difference
getting involved
can make in
their own lives.
You can do this by reading this letter in its entirety, checking
out what I am suggesting, and forwarding this to others.
It's is about the power of
PASSING THE WORD
and
PAYING IT FORWARD.
NOT A JOKE
As you probably know, people are always passing on jokes
and silly
"you'll get good luck if you pass this on
to 10 friends by midnight
tonight - and bad luck if you don't" emails to
their friends.
This is one of those rare opportunities to pass
along something
that really IS important and really can
make a difference.
But it is up to you
to let everyone you know see that
they can make an incredible difference
in our collective
futures.
If you do nothing, nothing will happen and these
devastating trends
will continue to accelerate, and we will all have
to pay the price.
(And if you look at the stats, you can see that
the day of
reckoning is much closer than any of us thought.)
But if you get involved and help spread the word,
we as a group
can make a much bigger difference than we
can imagine.
IT'S WORKED FOR THOUSANDS OF
YEARS
For thousands of years, people have
spread news and
stories via word of mouth.
In today's technological society, no matter how
much is
spent on high-tech marketing, word of mouth
advertising
is still the most effective way to get the word
out.
And that is the way making a difference in these
critical
areas is going to have to work.
We can't rely on our leaders to do it for us.
It is going
to have to be a grass-roots effort, with each one
of us
working to get others involved, and everyone doing
our part.

SO WHAT'S IT GOING TO TAKE?
In order to make this kind of a difference, there
are three things
that we
need to have in place...
-
A way for ordinary people to make a big impact
without interfering with their day-to-day responsibilities.
(People are busier than ever today, after all.)
-
A way for people to improve both other people's
lives as well
as their own personal situation. (It must foster
cooperation and
produce real results, inspiring people to continue.)
-
And we need a vehicle that will enable people to
spread
the word and to empower others to make a difference as well.
IT MUST BE SIMPLE, EASY &
AFFORDABLE
It must be simple. The average
person must be able to
understand what to do and how to do it.
It must be easy to do. If it
is complicated or too hard,
people will just give up.
And it must be within reach of
virtually everyone.
In fact, for it to be truly powerful, it needs to
empower people
who want to make a difference to be able to
afford to do so -
to have the resources to continue pursuing the
mission.
In short, it needs to be self-sustaining.
IT MUST BE BELIEVABLE
In order for large numbers of people
to get involved
and truly make a difference, it must
be real.
It must be credible.
It must be proven.
And it must be believable.
It must be promoted by an
organization that has a proven track record
and is going to be around for a long
time.
IT MUST BE
COMPELLING
And most importantly, it needs to be so
captivating,
so exciting and so compelling,
that people will actually line up
to get involved.
And it has to attract caring, compassionate and
inspired leaders
who have a proven track record, and
who have their hearts
in the right place.
People must want to get involved
because of what we are doing,
and who else is getting involved.
IT MUST FUN!
Isn't it fun to get together with
friends and make a difference?
Isn't it fun to root for your team?
To encourage team members to succeed and to be
their best?
If something is fun, really fun,
you're going to want to do it again.
Making a difference in a
continuously expanding way, must foster the
cooperative spirit, so that people
have fun and enjoy winning together.
And, everyone must win.
IT MUST
BE TOTALLY RISK-FREE!
People will want to get involved and
try it out.
If it is not for them, they should
